African art is a wonderful collection of visual and spiritual objets. This ancient art is represented mainly by cultural symbols , religious ideas and rituals , which present a sacred form in the different artifacts, masks and figures.
Many items are used in tribal ceremonies, an artistic expression that is part of everyday life. Other forms of ancient art are linked to the various ancestral traditions and have given life and strength to the African society.
African Figures, protective amulets
Common to many tribes was the belief that certain images, amulets, or fetish were capable of calling the invisible might through rituals. The consecration of one’s own spirit is activated by offering sacrifices and magical invocations to the various divinities. The collaboration among sculptors, healers, and shamans is of great relevance during the ritual.
